Kaslo is on the North Shore of Kootenay Lake, about 32 km from the Balfour ferry terminal by straight-line distance and about 55 km from Nelson; both run mostly along Highway 31 and Highway 3A. To Creston, at the south end of the lake, it is about 95 km.
